Happy 2nd Birthday!

Recently my family got together to celebrate my great-nephew Freddie's 2nd birthday. I procrastinated about making a card because I figured he was too young to really care if he got a handmade card or not, so I was going to just buy a card at the store (gasp)! On the day of the party I decided I just couldn't buy a card - I had to make one. With 45 minutes until the party began, I started pulling out supplies. Since I was short on time, I needed to put something together fast so I looked at the card on page 88 of the current Close To My Heart catalog/idea book and started with the basis of the sample of that card. I have had this stamp set for a long time and couldn't wait to use it. I think the little boy in the stamp set looks so much like Freddie, who has a head full of curls (when his parents don't have his hair cut short). I customized it with the number 2 and added Happy Birthday to two little flags I created and hung from the number 2. I love how cute it turned out and if I must say so myself, I think it's cuter than the one in the catty. It was so quick and easy too, even with the stitching. I made it to the party on time and thoroughly enjoyed watching Freddie open his gifts. I don't know if little Freddie cared too much about whether his card was made or purchased, but it doesn't matter, it's the love in my heart that I had creating something special for someone who means so much to me...he's one of those in my life who are close to my heart

Mojo Monday 244

When I saw the Mojo Monday sketch for this week, I knew right away that I wanted to use Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, Life is Tweet. I paired the set with the Lucy paper pack and was happy with how well all the colors and patterns went together so well with the sketch. Having a paper pack with coordinating textures and colors certainly makes putting a project together faster, simpler and easier!
On the inside of the card, I stamped the birthday message on one of the subtle B&T papers and stamped the bird and balloons. It was so difficult to decide which stamps to use because there are so many to choose from with this set! There is a picture of the whole set farther down in this post. You can get this set for only $5.00 with any $50 purchase. Life is Tweet is only available during the month of June. Don't forget that this month is Stampaganza, so you can buy 2 stamp sets and get 1 (of equal or lesser value) FREE!

June SOTM - Life is Tweet

Lucy Paper Pack, Life is Tweet Stamp set, Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge (the flower stamp coordinates with the cutout from the cartridge), Sweet Leaf, Cotton Candy, and Grey Wool ink, Paradise Asst. Bakers Twine, Bitty Buds Asst. (LOVE the tiny, delicate flower that I paired with the Baker's Twine).

Finally, I need to show you my workshop "helper" Mauer. He is quite the curious one and is right there with me when I am in my workshop. In the photo on the left, he is trying to "help" me take a picture of my card. In the next photo, when he isn't crawling all over trying to see what I am doing, he can be found sleeping in the silliest of places. I don't know how he can be comfortable, but it's so cute that he likes to hang out with me.
