Today was my dad's 80th birthday. We had family come in from all different parts of the country to help celebrate his special day. My dad Jim wanted this day to go by without too much notice, so I was nervous how he'd feel about all the "hoop & holler" that was waiting for him as the day progressed. He was a real trooper and was quite thrilled about his celebration. A few weeks ago, my sister and I had sent out 80 envelopes to friends and family that contained postcards for the recipient to fill out and mail to my dad for his birthday. It was a blast reading everyone's well wishes and birthday greetings. It will be something for my dad to reflect back on for a long time. It was fun listening to all the boyhood stories shared by two of his brothers who were in attendance.
I followed the Mojo 240 sketch to make his birthday card. I didn't get it completed in time to participate in the Mojo Monday contest, but am happy to share it with you here. My dad always enjoys receiving my handmade cards and always makes quite the production about what his daughter creates. Love you Papa Jim...you are the best father ever - thanks for all your patience, effort, and understanding during the years. ♥
