12th day of Christmas cards

On the 12th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Twelve wrapped gifts!

CTMH supplies used: Jingle paper pack, Juniper, Tulip and White Daisy cardstock, Tulip and Juniper ink, Holiday Trinkets and Just for the Holidays stamp sets.

11th day of Christmas card

On the 11th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Eleven Sparkling Lights!

CTMH supplies used: Jingle paper pack, Juniper and White Daisy cardstock, Black ink, Ms. Holiday Cheer stamp set, Cranberry brads, Cranberry organdy ribbon, Desert Sand and Baby Pink marker, and finally, Glitz glitter gel.

This is a closeup of the sparkling lights (sorry, not the best picture...it's the best that this beginner photographer can do). I paper-pieced the tree, tree skirt and the girls dress with paper from the Jingle paper pack. For the tree, the sparkling lights are already printed on the paper. I made them stand out with the Glitz glitter gel, but it's hard to tell in the pictures. Yes, there really are 11 lights on this tree. I couldn't have planned it out better if I had tried : )

10th day of Christmas cards

On the 10th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Ten ornaments hanging!

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe paper pack, Cranberry and White Daisy cardstock, Cranberry and New England Ivy ink, foam tape. Stamp set: All the Best (from the Mistletoe Workshop on the Go).
Other: Sizzix die (photo corners), Martha Stewart (tinsel glitter).

9th day of Christmas cards

On the 9th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Nine quilted squares!

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe paper pack, New England Ivy cardstock, Mistletoe Level 2 Assortment pack (poinsettia)
.
Other: Martha Stewart holly punch.

I have used this card design a few times before in workshops, but it comes out looking so different for every season. I think this is my favorite so far. The Mistletoe paper looks perfect on a quilt card. I typically use the Simple Stitches stamp, which is retiring 12/31/10 : ( to create a stitched look on the squares. I tried that first, (see below) but ended up liking it better without the stamped stitches in this case.

Monday, December 20, 2010

8th day of Christmas card

On the 8th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Eight boughs of holly!

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe Creative Basics paper packet, Cranberry, New England Ivy and White Daisy cardstock, Black ink, water color pencils, blending pen, Cranberry grograin ribbon
Other: Copic marker (grey C1).

Stamp set: Father Christmas
.

7th day of Christmas Cards

On the 7th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Seven snowflakes falling!

CTMH supplies used: Grey Wool, Crystal Blue and White Daisy cardstock, Crystal Blue ink, and blue Sparkles Assortment. Stamp set: Snow Flurries.
Other: Cricut machine, Seasons of Joy cartridge, Cuttlebug, Swirls embossing folder, Martha Stewart snowflake punches.

Design "borrowed" from Karen Day

6th day of Christmas cards

On the 6th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Six squares layered!

CTMH supplies used: Jingle paper pack, Jingle Creative Basics paper pack, Tulip and White Daisy cardstock, Flurry dimensional elements (snowflake), and Twinkle Brads Jolly Assortment.

5th day of Christmas cards

On the 5th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Five shiny pearls!

(Close up of the pearls)

Because I was busy getting gifts ready for the last day of school, time was short and I literally spent less than 10 minutes putting this card together. It's not one of my proudest moments as far as design goes, but the end result wasn't too bad. I love how the color really stands out (the photography doesn't do the pearls justice). They really add a lot to the card. The Captured Moments stamp set has really proven to be a favorite of mine this Fall/Winter season, because of the versatility of the three different images depicting different seasons.

CTMH supplies used: Outdoor Denim and White Daisy cardstock, Outdoor Denim ink, Captured Moments stamp set, light grey pearls from the Licorice Opaques pack and sanding block.

4th day of Christmas cards

On the 4th day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...

Four holiday trees!

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe Creative Basics paper pack, Cranberry cardstock, Cranberry & New England Ivy ink, Holiday Trinkets and Holiday Commentary stamp sets, Cranberry grograin ribbon, and red sparkles.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

3rd day of Christmas cards

On the third day of Christmas my CTMH consultant sent to me...
a card layered in three.

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe paper pack, stamp set from the Mistletoe Workshop on the Go, New England Ivy organdy ribbon (retired), and the poinsettia is from the Mistletoe Level 2 Assortment, Cranberry and New England Ivy inks and cardstock.

*adapted from a card by a fellow CTMH consultant (sorry I didn't write down her name).

Monday, December 13, 2010

2nd day of Christmas cards

On the second day of Christmas, my CTMH consultant sent to me...
A bow tied in two
ok, work with me here! It's not easy coming up with the phrases for the 12 days : )

CTMH supplies used: Mistletoe Paper Pack, Adorn-able Stamp set, Colonial White Ribbon Collection, Shimmer Brads, Cranberry and New England Ivy inks and cardstock.

*Idea based on cards shared by fellow consultants, A. Green and unknown.

A little taste of "heaven"

Another one of my fav's during the fall...Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte! Mmm...mucho grande (or in this case VENTI). There is nothing better on a cool, autumn day!

Signs of Fall

I figured that I better get this posted before the snow starts flying! I tried a few weeks ago but it was taking forever for the pictures to post and I gave up. A good friend of mine shared a trick (post 1 pic. at a time), so I tried again and it worked! Anyhow...FALL is one of my favorite seasons of the year and here are some reasons why:

I love the colors of the trees - this is right outside my front door...

I love anything pumpkin! I was grocery shopping and saw that Betty Crocker had a pumpkin cookie mix, so I had to try it! It is the best cookie mix I have ever tried! Of course the gob of cream cheese frosting on top makes it even better. It was well worth giving up my $ in the office weight loss contest. Dylan, my youngest helped decorate the tops of the cookies and had fun with that.
I love to decorate for fall. I think I even like it better than decorating for the Christmas holidays (not so overwhelming). Anyhow, I found this cute pumpkin at Joann's a few years back and love to display it during this time of year.

Throughout the seasons, I love to change the decor on my buffet. This was obviously from Halloween, but now I have taken the pumpkins away and added the pumpkin from the picture above.
Finally, I also love to change this tiered basket out with the seasons. I just love the garland with the little pumpkins on it.

Hopefully this inspires you to share your love of your favorite holiday season. Enjoy.

Olivia Card

Wow, hard to believe it's November 1st already! I had some fall/Halloween pictures to post, but for some reason it's not letting me post multiple pix. right now, so I will just post the one for now. Here is a card I created using the Close to my Heart Olivia paper packet. I used one of the new colors (Smoothie) for the card base. I also used an Olivia sticker for the main focus. In the lower right I used our new Mocha collection of adhesive pearls. This card was real quick and easy. Enjoy.

Happy Halloween

I hope you are all having a "spooktacular" Halloween! I had some pictures to share with you, but for some reason, blogger is not letting me add photos tonight. I will try again tomorrow. I hope you all had a safe and fun day!

October Card Workshop

I hope you can join me next Sunday, October 24th at 1 p.m. OR Monday, October 25th at 6:30 p.m. to make some "BOOTIFUL" Halloween cards/candy holder.

We will make 4 cards and one candy holder (candy included). The new colors (Pear, Sunset, and Gypsy) look gorgeous with the Halloween stamps!

The cost is $5.00 (free with a $25.00 order placed that day - before tax, S/H). I will draw a prize winner from any orders placed by 10/25 and the lucky winner will pick from the prize basket. I will also pick a winner from all attendees (each day) to win a CTMH goody.

All you need to bring is your own adhesive of your choice.

Please let me know by Thurs. 10/21 if you are attending. If you have not been to one of my workshops before and need directions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Boo

I've had this unfinished, wooden BOO sign for a few years now, and was waiting for just the right Halloween paper to use with it. In the latest Close to my Heart Autumn/Winter Idea Book, I found just the paper to decorate it with....Hooligans! This particular piece of paper from the paper pack is bold and colorful and is sure to stand out and get noticed as my trick or treaters come knocking. I added some of the stickers that coordinate with paper and used the Licorice pearls to give dimension to the pumpkins eyes. I tied the letters together using the ribbon from the Pear Medley Accents. Not sure something this cute will scare anyone away, but that's ok.

I need your opinion...

I'm trying to decide if I should change the look of my blog...I need your help deciding if I should change the background or not. What do you think? I feel that this background is colorful and looks like stamped images, but I have been doing some research on blog backgrounds and there are so many cool looks out there that look like scrapbook pages etc.
So, what do you think? Leave a comment and I'll decide from there.

Washer Necklace

I can't take credit for coming up with this idea, but this has to be one of the cutest ideas ever! All you do is cover a washer (buy at any hardware store for pennies) and cover it with your favorite scrapbook paper. Glue it on with Modge Podge and when it's dry, sand the edges and cover it with CTMH Liquid Glass. Let dry overnight and add a bead and some silk cording. SO EASY and inexpensive too! I just might have to have a class on this!

Mojo Monday 155

Now that it's back to school, I don't get to participate in the Mojo Monday sketches as often as I'd like to anymore, but I took some time to myself today to create this weeks sketch. You are getting a sneak peak at an upcoming Close to my Heart Stamp of the Month set called "Share the Magic". Isn't this Santa stamp just the cutest thing ever? It's enough to get you into the Holiday spirit - even though is was almost 80 degrees today! I also used the newest Creative Basics Paper Pack (which includes the ribbon you see too). The Merry & Bright image is from the set called Christmas Memories. I also used the Glitz Stardust Glitter Glue (say that 3x fast!) to fill in Santa's fur on his suit and hat. This is so much faster, simpler, and easier than using glitter! Not as messy either, that's for sure! I enjoyed taking a moment to myself today to create something to share with you. I think I need to do this more often. I'll be back soon!

Easel Card with drawers

My friend and fellow CTMH consultant, Renee and I get together one or two evenings a month to create a project. Yesterday, she decided that she'd like to create this easel card with drawers. Although on the inside I was thinking it was a very ambitious project and I wasn't so sure of the outcome...I rolled up my sleeves, put on a smile and we got to work. After an evening of chatter and laughter (and once we figured out the scoring), it came together fairly quickly. I was thrilled with the end result! I think I can even use Renee's fabulous quote to describe it - it looks very "CHI CHI LA LA." Thanks Renee for making me go out of my creating comfort zone when I'm not so sure I want to. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us the next time we meet!

Below is a picture of the box - closed/folded up:
Note: Here is a hint of some new product coming in the Close to my Heart Autumn/Winter Catalog (available Sept. 1st from me). I used the Mistletoe Creative Basics Paper Pack, and stickease, along with the ornament shaped Dimensional Elements and Mistletoe Assortment of brads.

Below is a side view of the easel card, standing up and the drawers open. I thought it would be cute to add some candy or little trinkets to the drawers for a little, nice surprise.

Below is a front view of the card standing up:

The wheels are turning and I have many more ideas/themes for some more Easel card boxes. I will post as soon as I create them.

Are you ready for some football?

It's that time of year again...football season has officially arrived! I got to see son Jake play in a Sophmore scrimmage game on Saturday morning. He made this key tackle and caused the running back to fumble. Time to put on the black and gold and head for the field on Saturday as West faces it's first opponent. GO TIGERS!

Back to School

I finally got a small corner of a table cleared off to do some creating. First time in a week and a half! It felt so good...therapeutic even. Anyhow, next week is back to school and I wanted to make something for the team I work with, so when I saw this adorable idea in this months Creating Keepsakes magazine - I had to try it. It is so fast and simple! All you do is take a 3 1/2" X 4 1/2" piece of cardstock (in this case I used CTMH Honey) and score it every half inch, lengthwise. Then you wrap it around a tube of Rolos. Add a pink circle at the top and wrap a 3/8" X 3 1/2" strip of pink around the top to create the eraser. Then take a strip of 3/8" X 3 1/2" strip of foil to create the metal band to hide the seam where the yellow and pink cardstock meet. Add a Hersheys kiss to the bottom to create the pencil point. Embellish as you wish. Not only is it adorable, but tasty too!

Oldies But Goodies

Due to last weeks water situation, I haven't been able to get back into my workshop to create anything new. We are on the home stretch and getting back to normal and everything in place. I wanted to post something, so I looked through some "oldies, but goodies" to post. I made this card almost a year ago. The paper and stamp set are now retiring, but thought you might enjoy.

Mojo Monday 150

Whew...made it back in town just in time for Mojo Monday! Got things unpacked and headed to the workshop to complete this weeks card. Below is this weeks sketch, scroll further down for my interpretation...I used Close to my Hearts Animal Cookies Level 2 paper pack. The saying is from the CTMH stamp set called Childhood and the adorable monkey is from the CTMH stamp set called It's a Zoo. The ribbon is also CTMH, along with the cute little green brads from the CTMH Splendor Designer Brads Collection.

Mojo Monday 149

It's a good thing that there will be no judging on this weeks Mojo Monday! This had to be the most challenging card I have ever made! I was just not gelling with the design on this weeks challenge. First of all, time was not on my side yesterday - so I wasn't able to spend much time on it and did a shortcut using Close to my Heart's Blue Ribbon paper pack and coordinating stickease. The only thing that is stamped is the Happy Birthday message on the label. I almost didn't post it, but I wanted you to see that sometimes we can still create a card (whether it's a fav. or not) in a short amount of time.

Happy Birthday Gram!

Today would have been my Grandmothers 95th birthday. She has been gone 5 years now, but I wanted to remember her in a special way by sharing this scrapbook page I made, honoring her and her special holiday recipe for Jerusalem Pudding. The recipe is in her own handwriting too, which I think is special for future generations to see. A couple of years ago I made an 8x8 recipe album for my mom for Mothers Day. It contains family recipes/pictures, especially of my grandma. I am still adding pages to the book as the years go on. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAM - MISS YOU! {Hugs} to you.

Mojo Monday 148

Ok, so it's not Monday - but luckily we have a week to post our artwork created from the posted sketch. Below is the sketch for week 148:Here is my interpretation of the sketch...I used the Close to my Heart Unforgettable Level 2 paper pack. The delicious colors are Sorbet, Chocolate, Desert Sand, and Juniper. The stamp set is Aspiration. The brads on the flower were inspired by a fellow CTMH consultant, Annette G.
Here is a close up of the brads used. The middle of the flower is one of CTMH's filigree Charms! Love them!

StarDust

This layout is of my oldest son from when he was 15 months old. It is one of my favorite pictures taken of him because he looked like such a "little man" with his hat on backwards and his little tennies on. It's like he had gone from a baby to a toddler overnight. I used the Close to my Heart Level 2 paper pack/stickers called StarDust.
This is the left side of the layout:

Below is the right side of the layout:

I just had to show you a close up of this picture...so sweet!
